Dementia Awareness Week
Dementia Awareness Week
15-21 May 2017 is designated as Dementia Awareness Week. However, our awareness of this condition shouldn’t be limited to just these few days.
Annie Cooper and Carole Morrad were recently commissioned as Anna Friends in the Medway Hub. Anna Chaplaincy is a new diocesan project instigated and run by Julia Burton-Jones to help meet the spiritual needs of those with dementia and those who care for them. You can read more about this specific work on the Rochester Diocese website.
Another way in which we can help is through becoming a Dementia Friend. A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it’s like to live with dementia and then turns that understanding into action – anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend.
We are running a Dementia Friends training session in the next few weeks. It is a brief one hour session (and can be taken online although it is always a fuller experience when shared with others.) All are welcome, date, time and venue to be confirmed.
You can find out more about what is happening locally at Dementia Friendly Kent.
